Job Title: QA Reviewer – Instructional Design Exp.

Job Summary:

The QA reviewer provides primary value through two distinct quality activities: Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) according to CDC process, quality, budget, and milestone standards. The QA reviewer requires moderate supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Control:

Works with the point of contact and/or QA Coordinator to confirm that the appropriate style guide and client standards have been established for the client project

Learns the clients’ standards

Identifies, tracks, and reports on the quality status of client deliverables

Signs up for reviews to meet project and QA deadlines

Reviews project deliverables to ensure:

o Instructional quality meets defined objectives and product specifications, if applicable

o Fewer than two to three spelling/grammatical errors per content hour

o Conciseness

o Reduced repetition of information, unless specifically required by design, if applicable

o Compliance to agreed style guide and client standards (including tone/voice)

o Consistency (formatting, use of terms, etc.) if applicable

Tracks and communicates errors in the defined categories for each deliverable

Provides feedback to IDAs/IDLs/IDMs

Works with point of contact, QA Coordinator, and QA Manager to define quality review schedule and budget for the project

Quality Assurance:

Helps initiate activities intended to raise the Centers’ ability to deliver quality deliverables consistently by:

o Assisting client point of contact and QA Coordinator in addressing recurring problems or barriers to quality development

o Providing mentoring sessions to assess, address, and track IDA problem areas and improvements by:

o Implementing mentoring/training interventions to reduce similar errors on future projects and deliverables

o Providing one-on-one coaching to IDAs as needed

Reporting:

Provides weekly reporting document to the point of contact and/or QA Coordinator

Maintains log of projects to ensure proper time tracking

Completes PWA and ARIBA or myTimeandExpense time reports within center-defined timeframes

Relationships:

QA Manager

Internal relationships:

CDC project teams

Qualifications:

Education:

BA/BS: Prefer degree in Instructional Design, Cognitive Psychology, English, Technical Writing, Communications, or related field or equivalent experience

Work Experience:

One year in instructional design or related field

One year academic or practical training/learning industry experience

One year experience developing performance solutions

One year experience instructional approach (web-based, instructor-led, or virtual instructor-led training)

One year Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Work Requirements:

Some evening mentoring (10 to 15%)

Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

Strong written communication skills—attention to detail to ensure quality

Strong editorial skills—the ability to correct grammar and usage of English as a Second Language (ESL) writers and others as needed

Strong oral communication skills—ability to speak with peers, superiors, and project teams

Prefer individuals experienced in mentoring, English as a Second Language (ESL), and prior editing experience

Ability to achieve a passing score on mandatory reviewing test
